Don’t get left behind!

Losing business due to lack of preparedness is unacceptable in today’s demanding business environment. It is therefore essential that you are well-versed as an EU customer on your obligations under the European Union’s REACH regulation.

• As an EU customer buying from an EU-based manufacturing or importing company, you are NOT obliged to register substances because you are considered a “downstream user”.
• If you import substances yourself and would like to still profit from the status of “downstream user”, you would need to make sure that the non-EU manufacturers from which you purchase appoint an Only Representative to execute REACH obligations on your behalf. Their failure to do so will leave the responsibility for registration with you, as the importer.
• Only EU-established companies are allowed, under REACH, to register substances.
• No continued EU market access is possible after November 30^th 2008, without pre-registration of phase-in substances. See REACH timeline.
• Pre-registration is for substances and not products, as the latter may contain more than one substance.
